Let's just assume that each of your "I know of an incident..." are indeed facts. And I will accept your statement "BYU's rules, values, and practices in many cases directly contradict the gospel of Jesus christ." What does that say about the governing body of your Church and the Church Education System, of which BYU is a key institution? It seems to me that the terrible incidents you cite (and the reason you dislike BYU) must occur because of one or more the following reasons:

1) The BYU Board of Trustees (which consistst of all of the top church leaders plus Mark B. Woodruff as secretary) intentionally let this happen to promote the BYU athletic program.

2) The BYU Board of Trustees is simply corrupt and lets this happen with full knowledge of it.

3) The BYU Board of Trustees is simply unaware all of this bad stuff going on in their institution (it's been a while but I don't recall the church leaders being very hands off in the management of any of their asssets or institutions. I recall a lot of focus on reporting and accountability in everything church related).
