I honestly don't know...
but I think it is equal parts arrogance and naivety. I don't see how it could be all that hard or time consuming for the coaches to DM these kids every single day, it takes all of 30 seconds to throw out a DM on twitter.
So every time the coaches would come to our HS last year they'd generally pull Roberts, my son, and Schoonover out of class to talk to them. Utah was there twice as often as BYU. I don't know why but they were. Utah also spent far more time recruiting my son than BYU did even though both ultimately only offered him a PWO Utah actually spent time recruiting him, I won't go into the details but it was far more involved. We live right next to the Roberts and Chases dad is one of my best friends, they had the Utah staff at their house once per week, BYU not nearly so much. I don't know why I just know that it what it was.
