That was pretty close to how it was...
the situation at BYU was not a good one for my son, BYU has three young quality qbs. We all know that now, I was pretty aware of it last year. They didn’t need another one right then.

I think a lot of people think we’re upset about it, that isn’t really the case. As a lifelong BYU fan I of course would have loved to see my son be a BYU QB, and he could have been if he’d wanted to take their pwo he’d be a BYU QB today and they’d have been thrilled he was willing to take that. But we knew he was worth a scholarship, so did BYU, so it wasn’t gonna work out there. We can logically look at the situation and know it simply wasn’t a good situation at that time, or even now honestly.

And that is the sort of thing people who’ve never been in a situation like that don’t understand. They think it’s all about loving BYU and being willing to take anything BYU is willing to give but when other schools are willing to give scholarships worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, have less crowded situations that offer better opportunities, etc then it becomes the best thing to do to put fandom aside and logically look at what is really the best situation for your son.

The Lost is completely correct in his post above, you’ve got to try to throw fandom aside and do the best thing and even though I know many on here struggle to understand this but the best thing is not always BYU no matter what.
