This was supposed to be a strength. I think Kalani the position coach or even coordinator who had a HC who did most of the coordinating probably had a lot more time to recruit kids one on one. A lot of the ardent supporters of Kalani point to they've taken a different approach and offer FBS cast offs that show potential instead of highly sought after kids. If that's the case, why even offer these kids with the stars.
I'll be honest, when we saw a few highly rated xfers come in, the Latu twins, Apu Ika, Brandon Kaho, and a couple of the Orem kids commit really early, I was sold. Now we are 4 years later, Khyris panned out, but the rest of them decommitted or xferred out. We never really were in the hunt for the Sewell kids other than the Nevada transfer or Nakua. Our best recruits over the past 4 years are Gunner who was a BYU kid to lose and Chaz (dad on staff), and Empey(Dad on staff at time). Do we really not want these highly rated kids? In most cases above, BYU was first to offer so I don't think it's a lack of resources thing with most of these or even Ritchie. Our position coaches need to get with the times. Esupka and Williams came to BYU because their position coach recruited them the hardest not the least, but we need that in all places especially locally.
