First off, I'm all for the idea that we need to have better recruiting. We need to be faster to these IMPACT high interest BYU kids. It just makes sense. And I'm sure the team knows it.
But... that being said. I don't understand this notion that a school is "behind" in the recruiting of a kid. If BYU is truly his dream school, then if you get an offer, and you believe that is the best institution for you, and you've dreamed your whole life to be there, then you would think that would be a swaying process.
I get, you go where you are loved, but if priorities change by a team... and they are ready to open arms and love you, then why not?
It goes the other way when kids accept BYU offers all the time and then Stanford comes in later and they immediately switch. Utah used to do this as well, they'd just offer who we offered early and sway some kids late.
We just gotta win... this increases the prestige and the notoriety of the program and will give us a little more benefit of the doubt. Right now, we have to do EVERYTHING right to get these higher level kids.
ugh.
