The "dating and courtship" build up to the "marriage"
Need to feel wanted so that you know you will make a contribution when you get there. That the coaches believe in you and haven't forgotten about you especially if you won't be contributing for a few more years.
Relationships matter, similar to how players will run through a wall for coaches.
