To answer your 1st question
A few examples without doing any research and just going off the top of my head of Big-time local talent on roster and recruited By this staff:
Chaz Ah You
Max Tooley
Zach Wilson
Dayan Ghonwolaku
I would imagine there are others, I’m not from Utah so I don’t know the local recruiting scene all that well, but those are some pretty big time players who were big recruits coming out of high school who came to play for Kalani. I don’t think his approach was any different with these guy than with Ritchie.
I have zero idea how good Richie is or is going to be. What I do know is he is a three star athlete who, like Britain covey and other players CB has some bizarre obsession with, will not make or break the difference of the success of any future BYU team. Should BYU recruit him? Seems like it. Seems like he could be a good player. Is BYU wrong in not making him their top priority? Sure doesn’t seem like it.
Lastly, I know intimately well the recruitment of Andrew Gentry. His father happens to be my dad’s business partner, I’ve known their family for all 32 years of my life. BYU has heavily recruited him from day one. Any suggestion otherwise is an absolute false notion. He has simply been wowed by the prestige and allure of big time programs. So to your last point, I think you’re just wrong.
