I agree with this, I experienced the same as a BYU fan growing up 80s and 90s

in Davis county. Most of my friends were yewt fans and gave me a hard time about BYU. BYU fans in my high school were definitely in the minority.

I was die hard BYU from birth because of my grandpa up the street, a farmer who never went to college but was a huge BYU fan and helped raise me right, inviting me over for BYU football and basketball games from a young age. I learned how to be a rabid fan from him.
