Utah dominating the series over the past 9 games is a serious problem. Utah owns BYU. Them being in the pac12 is a factor.
BYU during Indy has not been good. We have 1 single season that was exciting. 1. And it was a weird year where its easy for people to discredit.
Here comes the part that CB won't like. BYU completely lost its identity when it went Indy. BYU played the part of big fish in little pond. BYU was Boise before Boise was born. We were the David vs Goliath. Then BYU went Indy and tried to pretend that playing tougher schedules would equate to better recruiting and awesome seasons. Neither happened. I understood leaving the MWC, but I IN NO WAY believe that Holmoe or Bronco thought this Indy path was a long term adventure. I 100% believe they planned on being in the Big12 within a short amount of time. That didn't happen. (I also fully believe it will never happen. The landscape with LGBT, Me too, Black Lives matters, etc, means BYU will never be in that group.)
BYU's identity is now... what? Team that breaks about even most years on average? 5-8 wins? recruiting rankings are weak? Bowl games are pathetic?
That last major round of conference alignment killed BYU. At this point I also believe our best bet is joining the AAC now or in 2024 with Boise, forging ahead and trying to be a contender for NY6 bowls, fun conference games and ranked seasons. Indy just doesn't make any sense to me.
