LIFE LESSON. KIDS MAKE FUN OF KIDS FOR EVERYTHING
I'm not trying to overblow your semi-legitimate criticism, but kids always have made fun of other kids since the beginning of time and always will. It builds character to be teased. And if kids can see that it bothers your son they will double down like sharks who smell blood, where as if he owns it they will eventually get tired of it.

I was reading a story about a mother who was crestfallen because her son named "Graham" was teased by being called "Teddy Graham." Is that really all that bad? When I was kid you made fun of kids for being fat or smelly. And EVERYONE's name got made fun of. I'm named "Joe," so I was called "Joe Schmoe" or "Joe Blow." It reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Marge and Homer are trying to decide what to name their first son and Marge suggests "Larry," but Homer is worried they will call him "Larry Fairie." So she goes through every possible name ("Lucas Mucas," etc). until they land on Bart.

If you talk to Ute fans in their mid 40's they will tell you similar tales of being the only Ute fan in their school in SLC and how they got teased while BYU was winning the NC and 10 straight. Perhaps one day your son will have a similar story when BYU gets its Mo Jo back.
