institution.

"The original mission of these institutions, as set forth in the first Morrill Act, was to teach agriculture, military tactics, and the mechanic arts as well as classical studies so members of the working classes could obtain a liberal, practical education."

I have had quite a few student that I mentor who came into our program barely being "calculus ready" and ended their time having excelled and graduate as highly capable engineers. These are student who couldn't even get accepted to BYU because of the academic level required to get in.

If you look at the things that places like USNews uses to rank schools, WSU takes some serious hits because we are dedicated to that land grant mission.
