I remember reading once upon a time that BYU not being a member of the AAU was..
...a reason BYU wasn't a fit for the Pac12. The Pac12 closely follows the Big10 in a lot of things and the AAU membership is a requirement for membership in the Big 10 but I haven't read anything from a Pac12 source that says it's a requirement for them as well.
