There's more than just that to the story, however, isn't there?
Vaccinated people are much less likely to catch COVID. Sure - it can happen - but it is much less likely. And that means they are much less likely to carry it around and spread it.

But perhaps the bigger issue is that vaccinated people are much less likely to require hospitalization and medical care. So even if they can still catch it - the community resources required to care for them are much less.

There's lot's of talk of "there should be consequences for not getting vaccinated - maybe unvaccinated people who get sick shouldn't get priority at the hospital" - but we know that no medical provider or hospital is actually going to turn away people who are sick and in need of care. They'll keep taking them in. And they'll keep using up resources. So controlling their exposure may be one way to limit the resources they use up.
