and a few in their 30’s. Most of them are obese but there are more non-obese folks this time around. Less have diabetes too.
This is an anecdote but last shift I intubated and put lines in 3 people. Two were in their 40’s. Only one was obese with DM. The other lady was a little overweight, BMI 28, but had no other comorbidities. She had 3 kids at home. It was tough. Her fear was palpable as the nurse held her hand when I began getting her to sleep.
We still get some old folks but this time, this variant, is definitely stronger.
