Was he given the chance to play as a walk-on next year?

Was this a case of there was a place for him, but not a scholarship? Or was this a case of there was no place for him and Rose told him to not let the door hit him on the way out?

If it was the former, tough, but playing D1 ball as a walk on is a heckuva lot more than most of us ever got the chance to do. If it is the latter, then I sure hope that Rose has someone waiting in the wings that is better, b/c there are a ton of holes on that team right now and seems like throwing away a decent bench/role player is not very foresightful.

Doesn't have to be. It is that way for all NCAA sports. Unless the school offers says 4-years. Most are 1 year.
