"It is with a sad and heavy heart that Steven will be leaving BYU."

Whatever grievances taken from that are contrived and unspoken. All that is is an honest and informative statement for the benefit of BYU fans. Maybe they felt it was unfair, but she didn't say that.

Sounds to me like you should be mad at Cougarboard for airing her grievances for her...

Doesn't have to be. It is that way for all NCAA sports. Unless the school offers says 4-years. Most are 1 year.
