For my wife's third pregnancy, she saw a midwife and had a really great experience with her. We delivered at the hospital, but it was just the midwife and nurses in the room with us. It was reassuring to know they could get a doctor in there right away if there were any problems or complications (there weren't).

Also, this baby came so fast there was no time for an epidural. My wife was very scared of an unmedicated delivery but the midwife was really great helping her through it. I don't doubt she'll use a midwife again.
