(1) I never said anything against midwives. My argument is against planned out-of-hospital births. And both of those articles say absolutely *nothing* favorable about the safety of planned out-of-hospital births. There is absolutely *zero* data in either article that supports delivery at home or at a "birthing center" as being superior to a hospital.
(2) You're also misinterpreting the data that actually is contained in those articles. Basically they are saying that having a midwife attend a delivery is better than having nobody attend a delivery. I agree. And really, nobody is arguing otherwise. But that's not the debate that is being had here in the United States (in most cases, like the one in the original post).
