In the year 2019, there is no reason to do something stupid like this.

Putting your baby's health at risk just so you can brag about delivering "the natural way" at a birthing center is just selfishness, IMO.

There are serious risks in delivering a baby, both to the mother, and the infant. Those risks are better managed in a hospital. This is not debatable.

we had a scare on one of ours. not sure a birthing center would have given us similar positive outcome. Too risky IMO
