I’m sure midwives don’t want to hand off their patients to a doctor...
they don’t make money that way. So it stands to reason that there are situations where a doctor thinks a c-section would be the best option but a midwife has no clue or doesn’t want to give the patient up so they stay with them and have the delivery and since it works out ok then it goes done in the “unnecessary” column for those who want to make the claim.

In fact I’m sure there are c-sections performed fairly often that would have resulted in a birth that turned out just fine if a c-section wasn’t performed but the doctor thought it was the best thing based on the info at the time to perform a c-section.

I think the more relevant question is whether or not c-sections are leading to an inordinate number of complications and if they are is it more than otherwise?

Just saying they’re bad, done to often, etc is one thing but actually proving that they are resulting in some sort of negative result, other than c-sections are bad, is another thing altogether.

And considering midwives don’t perform them it is pretty hard to say that’s the case because if it is obvious they leave the midwife and go to a doctor almost as soon as it becomes obvious.

Maybe c-sections are done to often, maybe, but that hasn’t really been shown in any of this. All either of you has done is claim that’s the case and haven’t shown actual proof that is the case. Just because we perform more of them in America than other places isn’t proof of anything other than we perform more of them than other places.
