Utah, Colorado and BYU. I don't think any of those schools were "lucky" per se. They all earned the right to be selected with their performance on the field (which pretty much means football because the other sports mean nothing in terms of revenue) or in Colorado's case, their more distant past performance and geographic advantage. The PAC chose Utah. I honestly think they are a bunch of research snobs who wanted someone who would fall in line with the rest of the schools and Utah fit the mold. I think there were concerns about how well BYU would play with others and how BYU would fit culturally and academically.
But we don't need to rehash the argument again. What's done is done. I feel Utah is deserving. I feel BYU would have been deserving.
