and the benches on the west side were old, warped wood that were splintered and falling apart. We had snow and ice balls thrown at us in our section through the whole game.

Many years later went with my wife as newlyweds. We sat near the student section, and because of that just wore non descript winter clothing with no BYU markings. We never even stood up to cheer the Cougs because we didn't want stand out - though I made the mistake of clapping after a couple of big BYU plays. That prompted a barrage of f-bombs, trash, and a couple of guys spitting on us.

It was the Kaneshiro "Doink" game so it ended as beautifully as it could and we sprinted out of there quickly.
