I had the lovely experience of attending the game where Araujo punched a guy.
And he got away with it. That was kind of at the MWC heyday and the Thomas & Mack Center wasn't packed or anything, but there was a good crowd and it was a passionate game for the fans.

My brother lives in Las Vegas and is generally a UNLV fan. He does not consider himself LDS or a BYU fan, only by the loosest of terms. He got us pretty good seats close to the court for that game, and I was the only BYU fan in that section, I'm pretty sure. The f-bombs and religious slurs directed at me and towards BYU caused my brother to tell me that I should probably find another place to sit for the second half of the game.

After the game (BYU won), the fans were livid and I had multiple fans approach me after the game with more threats, verbal slurs, and anger.

I've also attended a couple of football games there as a BYU fan. It almost doesn't matter where we sat, if there was a UNLV fan anywhere close by, we'd hear the f-bombs and religious slurs. Again, I would attend these games with my brother, and it was so bad that he had had enough and at one point told the UNLV fans to shut up because he was Mormon, too. I never thought I'd ever hear my brother say he's Mormon, but that's just how bad the UNLV fans are.

Our friends next door went to UNLV for grad school several years ago, and decided to be supportive of their school and go to a game with their young kids. It wasn't even against BYU, he said, but it was so vile and uninviting of an atmosphere, that they never went back to another game.

There are only like two thousand total UNLV fans worldwide, so in it's entirety they don't compare to the total idiocy and haughtiness of Utah or Notre Dame. There are plenty of awesome Ute and Irish fans, as well. But outside of my brother--a very mild Rebel fan, it should be noted--I don't think I've ever met or encountered a UNLV fan who I thought was even a contributing member of society.
