It was my first semester at BYU, my 18 year old self and my heritage roommates were too stupid to realize that we bought scalped tickets not in the BYU area. But all six of us nonetheless piled in my roommate’s 92 manual civic and made the drive up to RES.

The verbal abuse we endured all game long was in itself pretty bad (most of it really horrible things about the church) but watching what the MUSS was doing with the administration turning a blind eye was pretty unreal.

I remember thinking that when those idiots rushed the field twice that it would be the greatest thing ever if the fans managed to lose for their team.

Of course, everyone knows the result. As we walked out of the stands multiple people threw trash at us and two really drunk guys who had to have been at least 40 tried to fight us just inside the gates. We ended up having to run before we got mobbed by fans who were undoubtedly looking for a brawl.

That was pretty radicalizing
