there can be poor behavior exhibited on both sides of this rivalry. Based upon what I've seen and experienced it's not remotely close in severity, but for the sake of argument and to answer your question, the example that you responded to was not that of your fanbase.
It took place on a recruiting weekend by your supervised recruits donning your gear in an official setting on campus and then posted to social media.
Did your temple recommend carrying admin or coaches acknowledge and apologize for the offensive actions that took place on that recruiting visit? If so, I missed it. I think that it was eventually pulled down, but I'm not going to bother searching for it. Most here remember it clearly, I'm sure.
In contrast, BYU's Admin has not only publicly apologized for bad behavior but has chastised our entire fanbase for something that didn't even happen that someone deemed offensive. Can you imagine if on a recruiting weekend, supervised BYU recruits mocked a Native American ceremony in a photoshoot and posted it to social media?
You know the answer to that. And you also know the theme of which I spoke, the one that is perpetuated amongst a very large, vocal portion of your fanbase, students, and some staff which is the blatant and open mocking of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and of sacred things.
You may not participate in it. And you may call us self-righteous, holier than thou hypocrites who are casting stones, but we've heard that before. And the point was, what are those associated with your University and fanbase who oppose the behavior specifically doing to change the recurring theme up there. I think that is the point.
And don't fall back on reporting bad behavior at a stadium via some text message hotline or getting an usher. Every stadium everywhere has that. And most won't do much about it until it gets physical, and often times it's a "he said/she said" that ultimately amounts to no action.
I hope that your new Admin can change things, I do. But we've heard that one before, too. And I personally don't think that they want to offend such a large portion (and it is a LARGE portion) of your potential ticket purchasing fanbase by calling it out, what with the curtains and all. And maybe that was the price of admittance into a bigoted and woke conference for which you're all so enamored, but who knows?
