Valid point, but don't mistake think-tanks for science
Usually think tanks have very bright people in them, no question. But it isn't traditional science. They don't publish in journals, their work isn't peer-reviewed or replicated for veracity, and quite often the think tank itself is funded by those with an agenda and the mission of the think-tank is to promote that agenda.

It's often good stuff, but be careful to give the out-put of think-tanks too much weight.
