similar backgrounds, grades, life experiences, achievements, etc. makes it more difficult for any individual to stand out from the crowd of similar applicants. As an individual this is tough, from a group perspective it means that BYU is punching above it's weight when it comes to graduating many well-prepared, high quality applicants (that is the good part).
