Couple of points that need to be made:
If the contention is that all those BYU applicants are the same, consider what it would look like to a person who had never heard of missions or the church. Better institutions all over the country look at these applicants and want them for the exact reasons they are rejected at Utah. What better experience could a doctor have than living out of the country in a different culture serving mankind on their own dime? We go to those schools and excel well above others who haven’t had those experiences. They want and value us. The above stories illustrate that.

If being the same proves to result in higher competence and effectiveness and better doctors, why in the world would you not want more sameness and not less? “Diversity” for the sake of diversity is ridiculous. Results are what matters, not checking boxes. Again, this is life and death we’re talking about, not some social engineering experiment. I don’t want to die because the person who could have saved me was rejected due to some ethereal box not being checked.

Their excuses fall apart when seen in the light of simple logic. It’s clear what is happening.
