because he is 1/8th Hispanic. He has an anglo surname, does not in any way appear to be Hispanic, but because he has a great grandmother who was born in Mexico, he is considered to be Hispanic and is given preferential consideration.
This BYU grad of whom I speak was applying to med school at the same time as my son and three other friends who were all similarly situated. They were all at the 80th percentile for the MCAT and graduated with GPAs of 3.6 or above. My son's was the highest of the group at 3.9.
All of them are white males. The only one that could even got an interview with the U was the alleged Hispanic one. He got accepted to the U and three other MD schools. The rest of the bunch all got wait-listed by MD schools and accepted by DO schools. All of them are going to DO programs because they cannot be fairly considered for MD schools due to DEI.
I should add that all of those going to DO schools have GPAs and MCATS that place them in about the middle of the classes that the MD schools have accepted. In other words, the only thing that disqualifies them is their skin color/gender.
