I’ve had two girls go through the BYU recruiting process. One is still
waiting to sign...going a year of juco hoping she can get there. If not, she will probably end up at Boise or Utah state.

The other is a freshman in High school. She’s been a camp all star the last two summers. But she’s barely on their radar. BYU women’s soccer has so many options. They get their favorites early, usually by their freshman year and it’s tough to crack into it after that. We do two camps every summer. She’s on Celtic...we have done everything possible to make sure she gets noticed by them. But I’d still say it’s super unlikely that she will get an offer.

One camp probably wasn’t enough. You’ve got to be there every year for years to really get noticed. And you probably need to start that when they are around 11 or 12 at the latest.

The frustrating part for my older daughter is that they really don’t even take walk ons. She was the leading scorer on the 2nd place state cup team her senior year. She’s played with about 1/4 of the team but she matured late and really had no shot. She feels like if she could just walk on and practice with them, she could show them how good she is. But that doesn’t even really exist at BYU. It’s a hard deal for sure. I feel your pain.

My oldest daughter wanted it bad because she doesn’t want to play on Sunday. But it looks like that dream is coming to an end.
