I don’t see this as “making her wait.”
It’s one thing to keep saying “hey, we’re super interested. Hang in there, we’re just waiting on a couple things, but we definitely want you.” It sucks to have the coach say the things she did at the camp, but the coach also has to keep doors open, especially at BYU. Maybe they don’t want her now, but players could get married, get pregnant, go on missions, just quit. They aren’t recruiting her right now, but things could change.
