With all due respect, this isn't true in many cases.
I am very familiar with several situations where the parent was very involved--even the key point of contact, both at BYU and elsewhere.
On the other hand, I know it is true of some coaches and some schools.
It is 100% not true of every sport at BYU. Even as has been reported in the news, some BYU football players ended up at BYU primarily because of their parents involvement.
