years ago, when I was a junior in HS, my HS in the Bay Area won the CCS

championship in football. There were 126 high schools back then in the CCS, and no classifications, so my high school of 1200 had to beat 2 powerhouse high schools of over 3000 students, plus a private Catholic HS. My senior year my family moved to Provo, and I played at Provo High School. We took 2nd in state in the 4A, which was the highest back then. The total high schools in the whole state of utah, all clissifacation combined, was about 56 I think, which included 1A, 2A, and 3A, which back then were pretty small. I think there were 16 4A's maybe?  It was an eye opener. I also remeber that the state champion for the state of Utah in the 100 yard dash, (yes, I'm that old), would not have won my league back in california, and not even qualify for state.

I now think the gap in football between Utah and much larger states is smaller then back then, (1977), but basketball is far behind. When I think of Utah HS basketball, I think of players shooting 3-pointers, and not much else.

It is what it is. What are ya going do...
