Haha! I grew up in Indiana - outside Gary and East Chicago
I tell my son this all the time - he played sports here in Utah. Even in little, ol’ Indiana there are tons more highs schools than utah.
Having said that, this isn’t a new problem as you kinda phrase in your OP...and per capita- the state of Utah does very well kicking out D1 players.
