So we are back to make everyone pay for my hobby

The few subsidized by the many. The stars can pay to be on travel teams and reap the benefits of the specialized training.

If sports are so great for the participants why don’t you won’t everyone to have the chance to be a part of a team? Is it because that is actually best or because you like the experience it provides to you?

Music programs include as many people as possible they still do levels but it’s opened to everyone. High ability people then pay extra for specialized training. Their concerts still matter to the community.
