As others have pointed out, BYU had a few national titles (and a more nationally relevant FB team) that pulled up their Directors Cup numbers. Control for those factors, how does the rest of BYU look?
Not trying to be argumentative, but I think characterizing BYU sports as "imploding" is overlooking the success that exists any many non-FB/non-MBB sports.
