Football and Basketball are trending up.  I think they will both be good this year.  Football has better depth this year in offensive and defensive line positions which is the area where Utah has dominated us in the last decade.  Coach Pope has instilled a new level of enthusiasm.  The football independence schedules are not starting to have good home games which took a long time before they became good.  The Olympic sports are doing well because of good coaching hires and because they have good coverage on BYU TV.  Does anyone remember the coverage we had on the Mountain.  The basketball and football programs suffer because they don't have the infusion of money that would come from P5 inclusion and I don't see that changing anytime soon.  The money is much better as an independent than it would ever be as part of the Mountain West.  Joining the AAC would not improve things because with all of the travel involved, we would not dominate the AAC.  Holmoe tried very hard to get us into a P5.  Would another athletic director be able to accomplish that better.  I doubt it.
