When I was a kid rec baseball in Utah sucked. You’d start in early April and be
done two months later. Just couldn’t start earlier due to weather, and then it would end when school got out. 2 months just wasn’t enough. With super league baseball we start practicing indoors in January a couple of times a week and are able to start playing games in St. George a couple of times in February and March. It’s so much better just because rec baseball just can’t cut it in Utah.

The key is to have your travel team consist of kids in the same high school boundaries. You should be able to have a solid team with kids who are buddies, go to school together, and most of whom will play together in high school. You’ll always lose to the gold level tryout teams, but you’ll get enough wins to have fun, especially now that silver leagues and tournaments are becoming more common.
