At beginning of the HS year, head coach has a zoom meeting setting out expectations. After the school ball season is done, there are different levels of travel teams that the players can and are encouraged to participate on (skill level dependent, all try-out based). Three local high schools group their kids together to form a sort of minor league tiered system, with 3 levels of teams with the two higher levels specifically being travel programs. I'm the in the Portland, OR area, and they travel to WA, CA, ID for games, with one tournament in either TX or Georgia (?), depending on which team you make.
