For people who want a little diversity?

Religious preference isn't the definition of diversity. The state of Utah is one of the most non-diverse places in the world, and not just in terms of religion, but in terms of skin color, socioeconomics, etc etc.

Maybe I chose to go to BYU because I can't stand the Utah mentality that grossly encompasses the societal structures of the great salt lake valley and surrounding counties. I love how when I attend class at BYU it is rare to find kids from Utah. I like having people from California, Florida, Washington, New York and Alabama in my classes, who grew up in a different culture, who have real life experience outside of the Mormon Mecca, knows what a black person looks like and had to wake up early for seminary. Utah kids, and the 90% of instate students that attend USU and UofU grew up in a white, mormon-soaked culture. There is no way around it. LDS or Non-LDS...you are shaped by the society in Utah.

So while there may be no Honor Code you and your UofU or USU students signed, don't fool yourself into thinking that just becasue they won't get suspended for drinking a beer that they are so much more diverse than myself and my fellow BYU classmates.

You are still a Utahn.
