Lack of prep was part of it. I think that applied
to the FSU game. I don't think the choke against Utah in '08 was lack of prep, I think Max threw a pick or two and couldn't get his head back in the game. Maybe TCU '08 was also lack of preparation, but I'm also in the Max choked bandwagon for that game, too. I'm not sure any amount of prep or attitude could positively ensure that Max wouldn't get flustered after a pick or two. (If your response says something to the effect of "well if they planned better maybe he wouldn't have thrown those picks" then I've already entertained that idea and rejected it.)
No offense to the late Max Hall. I appreciate all he did for the program athletically. But he had a tougher time when things weren't running smooth.
