which is really the core of this entire thread. LDS Utah and Utah State fans are offended when those statements are made. When Collie says something like that, he is essentialy saying that God blessed him and BYU because of his righteousness. It therefore implies that LDS Utah players were not as worthy since they lost the game. I mean, Jesus didn't step in for them on 4th down. It then branches out to the fans like the OP who see religion and BYU football as one and the same. That offends even me. All it does, which is the point I have been trying to make, is fuel the fire of hatred towards BYU from our fellow LDS family. I dare say the hatred towards BYU is towards athletics only. NOT the institution itself.
As for your Notre Dame reference, well, this kind of crap doesn't happen with their fans. Go figure. Had one of their players made a similar statement after a win, you better believe it would headline ESPN news.
