is entitlement. I don't know if any fan in 2009 after the Oklahoma game felt entitled to a national championship, but I think we all hoped for it. Maybe we hoped beyond the skill of our team, but I find that Ute fans harp on us far too much for hoping we do well.
"You need to be more realistic." Yeah, fine, whatever. I feel like I'm entitled to hope that we go 13-0 this year, and if coming into the TCU game we are undefeated, I think we are entitled to at least hope for success. If coming into the Utah game we are still undefeated, we're entitled to hope that we win that game and bust the BCS.
I'm sure a few fans said "we should go to the national championship if we go undefeated" following the OU win last year. Even if they said that, is there anything wrong with that? BYU is stupid in getting its hopes up too high, too early, but as a fan are we no longer allowed to dream? Even if the dream isn't 100% realistic.
I've never understood this position, maybe you can help me put it together.
I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said "Utah Utes 2011 Pac 12 Champions." Should that suggest to me that every single Ute fan is entitled and already believes that the Rose Bowl or more is in the bag?
