You just complained about having to care about SJSU but that's all you get to care about in the MWC. Wins over nobodies isn't exciting. It's just a number on paper at that point.
Watching the actual game is excitement, not seeing the final record at the end of the season. And yes, Indy is better than what it turned into so what choice was there? The only thing that made the MWC interesting was Utah and TCU. They left so why would you want to stay just so you could win a few more easier games? Especially if you just complained about this very thing with basketball.
IMO you're actually being inconsistent if you complain about what the basketball program would have to endure if Gonzaga left, but you don't complain about what the MWC would have been under the same circumstances.
Just a question, what makes the season as a whole "fun?" Just that final number on paper? You said individual games might be more fun but the season as a whole is worse. I don't get that. Look at what BYU basketball is already suffering from. Nobody giving a crap that they win 25 games because the schedule... ISN'T FUN... IOW, isn't good.
Entertainment value would go down despite people being able to see a favorable W-L number at the end of the season. Well at the end of the season if it doesn't mean much and nobody cares about you, what's the point?
