But it would make scheduling MUCH more difficult. BYU as an Indy helps their SOS, win or lose.
Beating us as a G5 does NOTHING for their SOS. If they lose, it literally kills us. DOn't forget, we had difficulty getting good games against top conference teams back in the WAC and MWC days for this very reason. Teams gained nothing by playing us. Since playing us counts as a P5 game for their SOS, they have no reason to not schedule us other than timing. Losing to us now as Indy has a smaller impact on their SOS than it would if we were in MWC/AAC. Ability to schedule in one of those conferences would be greatly hindered IMHO

One main difference is that P5 conferences consider independent BYU a P5 game, so it is easier to schedule us

Exactly my point. By moving to ANY G5, our ability to schedule meaningful P5 games is greatly reduced
