I think if we have a good 10-2 type run, we probably get LV. But we do it again the next year, we would get NY6
With our schedule, a 10-2 record is more impressive than AAC or MWC championship team in most years. After our 4-9 season it may take a season or two of strong records to build up the momentum (and trust, see Hawaii's BCS game...) to warrant an invite. May not be as easy as that, but I would like to think it would.
Totally agree on WCC, especially if the Zags leave. How do you explain to a top recruit that some gyms have community showers where you shower WITH THE OPPOSING TEAM?!? MWC bball is not what it once was, but at least your teams gets its own shower! Zags and BYU bball going to AAC might be fun, but hard on the other Olympic sports for travel.

One main difference is that P5 conferences consider independent BYU a P5 game, so it is easier to schedule us

Exactly my point. By moving to ANY G5, our ability to schedule meaningful P5 games is greatly reduced
