Perfectly fine if their next employment violates a no competition clause. I've
seen this happen several times. It is right out the door and the employee has to have security accompany them to collect their personal belongings.

However, if it was for some other reason and not performance or ethics related, I'd let them work the week.

It sounds like you parted on good terms, which is key.
