There are situations where it's appropriate to cut off departing employees
immediately and not let them complete their stated notice period (if they're truly toxic, if they're going to a direct competitor in certain fields, etc.), but in my experience it usually does more harm than good. It just makes you look like a petty, power-hungry 🤡 and turns the ex-employee and your remaining employees against you.
