To all those saying that other employees will now just give 0 days notice,
that’s not necessarily true. It really depends on the job and industry, which we have no context on what it is.

If it’s an hourly job with people of lower socioeconomic status typically hired, then the majority would probably still need the 2 weeks of pay, so they would be more likely to give the full two weeks, knowing that if they don’t, they may walk away with no pay at all. Corporate jobs maybe not so much, just depends.

I guess people could simply decide that they’re quitting in 2 weeks and then decide not to give notice and just quit after the 2 weeks, but if that’s the case, then that is about more than just what the OP was about. I don’t think people would try to screw their employer over for something as small as the OP on a mass employee scale. Would probably be deeper rooted issues. Most people are good and give 2 weeks because it’s the standard.

In summary, I can’t say if it was a good or bad decision. Simply just not enough context. Some of you just jump to certain conclusions. Really need more context.

Will concede that I don’t know anything about claiming unemployment so that argument could trump everything I just said and make it a bad decision, but assuming it wouldn’t have an affect, I stand by what I said.
